Opportunity of A Lifetime!

To All Who May Be Interested,

My name is Stefanie Abreu and I am writing to ask for your assistance in an amazing opportunity. A year ago I started attending a new faith community known as The Barn. The first gathering that I attended I heard about a group of Barners leaving for Honduras to help the students at a school in La Entrada. I remember thinking “I am so doing that next year!” So here it is a year later and I am planning a trip to La Entrada, Honduras in April 2009. There are 6 of us from The Barn going and a group from our partner community, Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church. LCPC began working with the poorest of the poor in La Entrada over 10 years ago. The outcome of their love and support is the Hearts for Honduras school, which educates street kids with no other opportunity for an education.

I will be working with the 150+ students in grades 1-6, their families, and the whole town. There are many opportunities for me to get involved, such as a vision clinic, dental clinic, medical clinic, helping in the classrooms, and further construction of the school. I am excited to grow and learn. I have heard all kinds of wonderful experiences from some of those who have been on past trips to La Entrada. I have no doubt that I will see the face of God. I am sure my eyes will be opened and I will be even more aware of the true comforts I enjoy in life. (I have been told I will be very thankful for warm showers and clean water when the faucet is turned on.)

I ask you to partner with me in this opportunity. I have the great challenge of raising the money for my trip, which is $1700. This money pays for airfare, hotel, food, and supplies for the school. So, I invite you to consider supporting me and the children of La Entrada. Any gift is helpful and appreciated, and all donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Checks should be made payable to “The Barn” with my name in the memo line and sent to me by the end of February.
